From Gippsland to the Great Ocean Road – explore Victoria’s coastal sights
Here’s a road trip that takes in the best of Victoria’s coastal treasures, visiting the Bass Coast, Bellarine Peninsula and Great Ocean Road. Sunnies on, snacks packed, tunes sorted, let’s go!
Where better to start than Torquay, gateway to the Great Ocean Road and popular surfing mecca. Grab your board and head to the beach for world-class surf. Our holiday park is less than a five-minute drive to popular Jan Juc Beach or gentler Torquay Beach so you can rise a little later and still catch those early morning waves with ease. Or if you prefer dry land, visit the Australian National Surfing Museum to get a taste of surfing culture.
Just half an hour up the road from Torquay, you’ll find a resort-style holiday park that’s jam-packed with activities. A destination in itself, Ingenia Holidays Queenscliff Beacon is a great spot to relax for a few days. From the indoor adventure playground and kids club to tennis and basketball courts, a fitness studio and an interactive games room – this holiday park has something for everyone to enjoy. You might find it hard to tear yourself away, but it’s less than two hours from Melbourne, so you can always come back for a long weekend or mid-week escape!
Next, head inland to the magnificent Murray River. It’s a four-hour drive, so set off early to allow time to stop and stretch your legs in charming regional towns along the way, or let the kids blow off some steam at the Avenel Maze. Just a few minutes off the highway, it’s themed around Ned Kelly, and home to a hedge maze, rock labyrinth and more. At the journey’s end, pull in at Ingenia Holidays Murray Bend and discover a true nature escape set in 160 acres of bushland and boasting two kilometres of river frontage. There’s also a swimming pool to cool off in if you don’t fancy a dip in the river.
